Upcoming Events

Below is a list of events that are currently in the works and some information about our regular events. New events come up frequently, so check in from time to time. To add a new event, post it to the Yahoo! Groups DMNK email list. Events will be posted to this page as soon as possible. We'll do our best to post all events to this page in a timely manner, but events that are posted on short notice will probably not make it onto this page. For the most complete event schedule information, go to our official announcement list, the Denver No Kidding Yahoo Group email list. Events that are not posted to that list are not official DMNK events and should not be advertised as such.

Monthly Meet and Greets
Monthly meet and greets are designed to give new and existing members the opportunity to participate in our activities on a regular basis. Meet and greets are scheduled every other month in Denver starting in January; February, April, June, August, October, and December are "floater months," which means that meet and greets may happen in Colorado Springs, Boulder, &/or Fort Collins during those months. (See schedule below.) Meet & Greets are typically scheduled for the first weekend of the month, but this is not a requirement. Remember also that you do not have to wait until an "official" meet and greet to host or attend an event. To host an event, read the guildelines for hosting on the events page and post your event to our yahoo groups email list.

Meet and greets are hosted by members on a volunteer basis. To host a meet and greet, simply email the chapter coordinator and ask if a host is needed for the month and city in which you would like to host. This is the easiest way to host an event, and you can host as often as you like. If you're interested, please contact the chapter coordinator at denvernokidding@yahoo.com.

Book Club Meetings
Our book club meets every other month beginning in February, and is hosted by a different member each time, which means that we read a very wide variety of genres including fiction and nonfiction, classic and contemporary, realism, magic realism, fantasy, and even verse. See the the past events page for the books we've read in the past. The meetings are coordinated by Ellen Nedzel, who posts an invitation to members early each January to suggest a book and the month(s) they would like to host. When she has collected enough responses, she posts a tentative schedule for the year and sends reminders throughout the year to members who have volunteered to host a book club meeting. Members host the meeting for the book that they volunteer, and typically provide light snacks for their guests. Book club meetings are usually held in members' homes, but could certainly be held at a coffeeshop or other location. Meetings are usually held on Sunday afternoons.
